The Challenge

An ISP required a number of cabinets and associated network equipment to be installed in Telecom NZ’s UCLL room at various locations around the country.

The Solution

The cabinets were fitted out with all the equipment, power and interconnections at Transworks Auckland Depot. The fragile equipment was removed from the cabinets and packaged appropriately for transport. The cabinet and associated equipment was then transported to the site designated by the ISP. These were installed to Telecom’s UCLL standards following the Permit to Work process laid out by Telecom. The equipment was reinstalled within the cabinets and connected to the supplied interfaces as required. Commissioning of the network was then carried out and results submitted to the ISP.

Transworks also carried out end-to-end testing on a fibre optic cable supplied by a third party to prove the fibre performance.

Key Results

The network interface between the ISP and Telecom was completed to meet both companies’ standards, following the processes laid down Telecom’s UCLL specifications. The project was delivered on time.
Transworks completed performance testing on a third party supplied fibre to ensure this met the ISP’s needs.

Transworks can complete national projects that involve working with multiple companies.
